The team behind MJM consists of dedicated professionals with a passion for innovation and excellence in their field.
Chris Jakeman
Managing Director

Chris Jakeman boasts a varied background in machine building, production maintenance, and project management in the FMCG sector. For the last ten years, Chris has worked closely with Barry Marshall at B Marshall Engineering Ltd to grow the marine engineering division. This collaboration has helped to unify different expertise within the company. As Managing Director, Chris manages daily operations and offers technical support to the team.

Barry Marshall
Director

Barry Marshall started as an Anglesmith/Foreman, working on major projects like the Thames Barrier with Cleveland Bridge. In 1979, he established Marshall Engineering, focusing on steel building production, fabrication, and presswork. His passion for steel boat building led to founding B Marshall Marine Ltd. Barry still contributes his vast experience as a Director.

Ben Marshall
Director

Ben Marshall, a Chartered Mechanical Engineer, holds a First-Class Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Sheffield. With 13 years at BP, he worked internationally on major projects and operations in the Upstream Oil and Gas sector. His last role was Engineering Manager for a multi-billion-dollar offshore platform in the Norwegian North Sea. Ben is now an independent engineering consultant in the Upstream oil and gas industry.

Nicholas Calvert
Engineering Superintendent

Nicholas Calvert brings over 25 years of experience, including nearly 20 years of service in the Royal Navy, to his role as Engineering Superintendent at Marshall Jakeman Marine. As an accomplished Senior Electromechanical Marine Engineer, Nicholas has honed his skills in a variety of demanding operational environments.

Harvey Jakeman
Engineering Apprentice

Harvey Jakeman joined the company in August 2023 and began his Engineering apprenticeship in January. Before this, Harvey completed a two-year Cheffing apprenticeship at Rockliffe Hall, demonstrating his commitment and versatility. Now studying at South West Durham Training, Harvey has played a key role in the Enterprise build and contributes to offshore operations as both a deckhand and cook, while actively working towards covering the Engineer's role.
